Larry Towell: The World from My Front Porch
Organized by George Eastman House
International Museum of Photography and Film
September 18 – November 13, 2009
Opening Friday, September 18, 6-8pm
Towell’s most recent body of work explores the issues of land and landlessness in this mid-career retrospective. A series of intimate portraits taken not far from his own front porch examines his family and their close relationship to their Ontario homestead. In sharp contrast, the next section of the exhibition reviews Towell’s work over the past 20 years, witnessing the crisis of human development around the world.
