EMPTY BOWLS is an international project to fight hunger, personalized by artists and art organizations on a community level. The project is an opportunity to help feed the hungry in our community. Local artists have generously donated their time and talent to create handmade bowls for the event. Attendees choose an “empty bowl” in exchange for their donation and receive a simple meal to enjoy. The bowl is meant to be taken home as a symbol of their participation in helping feed those in need in Youngstown.

Charity: Proceeds benefit The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley “The only emergency shelter in Mahoning County, the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley hosts an average of 130 people nightly and last year served on average, 631 meals daily. Thank you Mahoning Valley friends!”

Bowls: The Ceramics Program in the YSU Department of Art hosted open studio workshops throughout the year for students and local volunteers to create handmade ceramic bowls. When you purchase a ticket you have a chance to choose one of these unique, handcrafted vessels by local ceramic artists.
