MARCH 28th – APRIL 11th
The 78th Annual Juried Student Art & Design Exhibition sponsored by the Student Art Association features works by students enrolled in the Department of Art at YSU. The exhibition opened on March 28 and continues through April 11 at the McDonough Museum of Art. Accepted works were revealed to all at the opening reception and awards ceremony on March 28, the awards were from local businesses and individuals who generously support the annual event.
This year we were honored to have Dan Byers as our juror. Dan is the Richard Armstrong Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at Carnegie Museum of Art, and co-curator, of the 2013 Carnegie International. From the 171 entries Byers chose 73 works by 43 artists. The categories for entries ranged from photography, painting, spatial arts, ceramics, and printmaking to digital media, video, mixed media, graphic design, interactive design and packaging design. A major goal of this exhibiton is to provide students with experience in preparing and presenting their work for a professionally juried show. This years award winners are Jennalee Butch, Nick Carney, Devon Carr, Jackie Chavez, Kelsey Davis, Sarah DelliQuardi, Amanda Durig, Kathleen Gallagher, Jenna Hudock, Chris Kamykowski, Laura Kosicrek, Sarah Kotlinski, LeeAnn Lewis, Rebecca List, Sara Oliver, Heather Seno, Andy Thomas, Mychal Vens, and Joy White.
